Furniture repairs have been our business since 1989. Our Onehunga workshop has expanded over three decades while keeping two priorities at the centre — quality of workmanship, and transparency with the customer.

We run the most extensive repair services in Auckland: timber refinishing, full re-upholstery, leather, antiques, marine, and insurance damage all handled in-house. Our team is an approved repairer for every major Auckland insurance and relocation company, and we service the entire region with pick-up and delivery.

We don’t publish fixed prices because restoration depends on the piece, the materials and the work involved. Here’s how we make the quote process simple.

Workshop quote

We collect the piece (Auckland-wide pick-up available) or you drop it to our Onehunga workshop. We assess in person and confirm the firm quote before any work starts.

STEP 03 Approved repairer

Insurance & relocation claims

We work directly with major Auckland insurers and relocation companies. Lodge a claim with your provider, name Dovetail Restorations as the repairer, and we’ll handle the rest.

Pick-up & delivery

Auckland-wide pick-up and delivery is available. We also handle North Island, South Island and international work by arrangement.

Turnaround

Turnaround depends on the piece and current workshop load — we’ll quote it with the work. Most polishing and re-upholstery jobs sit in the 2–4 week range.

Antique value

Restoration of genuine antiques is done with the intent to preserve value. We’ll discuss the right level of intervention with you before starting.

Commercial & hospitality

We’re a long-term partner to Auckland hospitality groups — ongoing refurbishment, recovering and on-site care across multi-venue businesses.
